Contest description

Musicians/bands/singers submit their best compositions for the contest. Although we count primarily on Russian would-be bands, there are no limits on the level of prominence, singing language and music genre. Music files will be accepted until the 1st of March, 2010 (the deadline can be extended).

The creators who participate in the contest choose the composition they like the most out of all the music tracks submitted and use it to make a music video. The deadline is the 20th of June, 2010.

Thus, it is a mutually beneficial cooperation, as the band receive a music video for one of their songs and the music video creator gives a boost to the development of domestic music community. Also, the creator has a chance to help a promising band to gain popularity, and has a chance to get spotted in certain circles as well.

Videos from contest organized by AMVNews.ru then are posted by users on other big videohostings like YouTube and get attention of thousands of users.

Rules for music artists

The registration of music artists is on till March the 1st, 2010. You can register via the online form on the site. You can provide link to the music file or upload it on our server (use one of the following formats: MP3, FLAC, OGG).

1. Any band/singer, irrespective of their status, level of prominence or music genre, can participate in the contest.
2. Only one composition per band/singer can be entered
3. Any composition can be withdrawn before the creation period begins (i.e. before the 1st of March, 2010)
4. To make sure that the composition was sent by its author(s) and not by some other person, the author(s) must provide information about Fast Start 2010 contest on their official site or page (Vkontakte, MySpace, LiveJournal, Twitter, etc.)
5. Only tracks in MP3, FLAC and OGG formats are accepted. The higher the quality is, the better.
6. The music tracks entered for participation in this contest will be publicly available for all visitors of the site.
7. It is forbidden to encourage creators to choose a certain composition by publicly offering them additional prizes, although you are allowed to increase the general prize fund which will be distributed by the contest organizers when the contest is over. Any music artists caught or bribery can be disqualified from participation in contest. You can encourage any creator personally when the contest is over.

Remarks
1. There is no guarantee that the composition you enter will be used in a music video – a creator must choose to work with it first. That’s why it is recommended to add the most successful and popular composition of yours so as to increase its chance to be chosen for music video.
2. The list of compositions approved for participation is available on the following page: the list of contest tracks.
3. It takes some time to check the tracks added (1 to 3 days).

Rules for music videos creators

1. Registration of participants till the June 15th, 2010
2. Submission of videos from March 20th till June 20th, 2010
3. Showing of videos starts when enough entries are submitted to showcase continuously 1-2 videos per day
4. The winners are decided by the joint judges' vote within 10 days after showing of the last contest video.

Video Requirements

Contest video can be made of any sources. Particularly, the videos which do not meet the definition of AMV are also allowed for participation. Music track must be chosen from the compositions registered for the contest. Cutting the track is forbidden (except for opening/ending mute parts), but you can request a short-cut version of the song from its authors.

Videos premiered after March 1st, 2010 are eligible for participation. The contest video can be entered for participation in other contests and showed at other web resources. Each participant is allowed to submit one video only. Multi-editor projects (MEP) are also accepted. You must know exactly the title of the source used for your video. AMVNews and/or the contest title must be mentioned in the video, how exactly to mention is to participant's choice. A line in credits should be enough.

A video won't be accepted, if:
1) There are significant compression artifacts.
2) Footage is of poor quality
3) TV resolution of full version is far too low (320х240 or 352х288)
4) There are hard subtitles not justified by artistic intent.
5) Broken aspect ratio or interlace is visible in most parts of the video.
6) There are black bars on the top and bottom of the video (if those are not used in any way during the screening)
7) The audio track used for the video is not registered for participation in contest *
8) There are violations of Russian Federation legislation, in particular concerning the incitement of ethnic hatred.

* - It is possible to use another song of the band/singer registered for the contest by mutual arrangement with the music artist.

In case there are too many contest videos the voting shall be split in two stages. First the participants for the final round will be chosen from all the contestants; next, the winners will be chosen from the runner-ups. A video wins if it gets the majority of points during judges' voting. In total there will be 5 prize places.

Nota Bene:

Contest organizers reserve the right to change the contest date, as well as to change/add some details owing to unforeseen circumstances.

Video format/encoding:

Each contest entry must be submitted in two variants: full version and efficiently compressed preview version.

Video codecs allowed: Main: x264. Reserve: DivX, XviD
Audio codecs allowed: Main: AAC. Reserve: MP3, OGG
Containers allowed: Main: MP4, MKV (for full version). Reserve: AVI

- Full version is to be compressed at the rate of no more than 25 MB per minute of the video. The limit can be extended if HD-footage is used.
- If you submit an HD-version of the video, it is suggested to add a standard definition version as well.
- Preview version: file size at the rate of no more than 2,5 MB per minute; resolution width 480 pixels. Encoding combination x264+AAC+MP4 is highly recommended.

Prize fund:

1 place – 5000 roubles + diploma
2 place – 4000 roubles + diploma
3 place – 3000 roubles + diploma
4 place – 2000 roubles + diploma
5 place – 1000 roubles + diploma

Some remarks concerning prize fund.
1) If AMV and non-AMV ratio is approximately 30-70%, then there will be a separate voting for AMV and non-AMV and the prize fund will be divided in two.
2) It is possible that additional awards appear in the course of contest, keep track of news.

How to enter your video:

1) Videos can be submitted from May 20th through June 20th 2010 by registered contestants only.
2) Files are to be uploaded either on a filehostnig service or on AMVNews FTP (you may use an archive protected by password and indicate the password in the "Comment for administrator" field of the application form). There will be no individual FTP for each of the contestants.
3) Fill in the application form located here.
Choose “Fast Start 2010” as one of the categories. Make sure there was a site message "Thank you, your video has been added successfully" after the upload. Here you can see whether your video was added to the list for moderatorial check. Then you’ll either wait yours turn to see the video on site or you’ll get a private message from administrator requesting to correct the deficiencies found during the check. Your video moderatorial check status will be posted [url]in special topic[/url]. If any questions arise, contact the administrator via private message.

Some remarks concerning the submission of contest videos:
1) If your video did not pass the tech check, there is no point trying to solve technical issues with the moderator responsible for checking.
2) The contestant is to be banned from participation if two attempts were not enough to pass the tech check.

Jury

1) The jury consists of the contest participants (accounts the video was posted from) and invitees: famous music videos creators, active commentators and showbiz/music industry representatives. (A jury member must have the site account)
2) In the first round of voting the categories finalists are chosen. Participation in the first round of voting is not obligatory, but in case there are two videos with the equal number of votes the priority will be given to the creator who took part in voting. First round judges must watch ALL contest videos and fill in the online form on the site. Thus if you want to participate as the first round judge, be ready to download a huge volume of data.
3) Second round judges must watch all finalist videos and choose the best of them via the online form. Second round judges include finalists contestants and invitees. If a finalist contestant did not vote in the category where his/her video is nominated, then the number of points scored by that finalist is reduced by the maximum number of points possible for the nomination concerned (notice, that it can make a considerable difference in the distribution of finalists’ rating positions).

Description du concours

Les musiciens/groupes/chanteurs inscrivent leurs meilleurs compositions pour le contest. Bien qu'on compte d'abord sur une participation russe de ce côté, il n'y a aucune limite du côté de la provenance, langage des paroles et du genre musicale. Les musiques seront acceptés jusqu'au 1er Mars 2010 (la deadline peut être repoussé)

Les créateurs participant au concours choisissent le morceau qu'ils aiment le plus parmi tous ceux proposés et l'utilisent pour en faire un clip. La deadline est fixée au 20 Juin 2010.

La coopération arrange les 2 camps, le groupe reçoit un clip pour une de leur chanson et le clippeur donne un coup de boost au développement de la communauté musicale.
De plus, le créateur a la chance d'aider à l'augmentation de la popularité d'un groupe et aussi de s'ouvrir certaines portes.

Règles pour les artistes

L'inscription des artistes a lieu jusqu'au 1er Mars 2010. Vous pouvez vous enregistrer via la plateforme en ligne du site. Vous pouvez donner un lien vers la musique ou l'uploader sur notre serveur (utilisez un des formats suivants: MP3, FLAC, OGG)
1. N'importe quel artiste, peu importe son statut, sa provenance ou son genre musicale peut participer au concours.
2.Seulement un morceau par artiste/groupe est autorisé
3.N'importe quel morceau peut être retiré avant la période de création (c'est-à-dire avant le 1er mars 2010)
4.Pour être certain que la musique a bien été envoyée par un de ses auteurs et pas d'autres personnes, le(s) auteur(s) devra(ont) fournir une information au sujet du concours Fast Start 2010 sur leur site officiel ou page perso (Vkontakte, MySpace, LiveJournal, Twitter, etc.)
5.Seuls les formats OGG, MP3, FLAC sont acceptés. Mieux la qualité est mieux c'est.
6.Les tracks envoyées seront disponibles librement à n'importe quelle personne visitant le site.
7.Il est interdit d'inciter un clippeur à choisir une certaine musique en lui proposant des primes, bien que vous soyez autorisés à augmenter la valeur du prix donné par les organisateurs du concours à la fin de ce dernier. N'importe quel artiste dans cette situation peut être disqualifié. Vous pouvez personnellement encourager un clippeur à la fin du concours.

Remarques:
Il n'y a aucune garantie que votre morceau soit choisi pas un clippeur – le choix de travailler avec lui vient d'abord. C'est pourquoi on vous encourage à mettre la plus populaire de vos créations de sorte d'augmenter vos chances d'être choisi

Règles pour les clippeurs

1.Inscription possible jusqu'au 15 Juin 2010
2.Envoi des vidéos du 20 Mars au 20 Juin 2010
3.L'exposition des vidéos commencent quand il y a assez d'envois pour en diffuser régulièrement 1-2 par jour
4.Les gagnant sont décidés par le vote commun des juges dans les 10 jours qui suivent la diffusion du dernier clip du concours

Exigences vidéo

N'importe quelle source peut être utilisée dans une vidéo participant au concours. Plus particulièrement, même les vidéos n'entrant pas dans la définition d'AMV sont autorisées. La musique utilisée doit être choisie parmi celles enregistrées pour le concours. Couper une musique est interdit (sauf pour les parties muettes en début et fin), mais vous pouvez demandez une version courte de la musique à ses auteurs.
Les vidéos diffusées pour la 1ère fois après le 1er Mars 2010 peuvent participer. Une vidéo envoyée au concours peut également participer à d'autre concours et montrer sur d'autres sites. Chaque participant est autorisé à enregistrer uniquement une vidéo. Les collaboration (MEP) sont aussi acceptés. Vous devez connaître exactement le titre de la source utilisée pour votre vidéo. AMVNews et/ou le titre du concours doivent être mentionnée dans la vidéo, au participant de choisir comment. Une ligne de crédit devrait être assez.

Une vidéo ne sera pas acceptée si:
1) Il y a des signes évidents de compression
2) Les sources sont de mauvaise qualité
3) La résolution de la version finale est trop petite (320 * 240 ou 352*288)
4) Il y a des sous-titres non justifiés par une démarche artistique
5) Un aspect/ratio ou entrelacement est visible sur les plus parties de la vidéo
6) Il y a des barres noirs en haut et bas de la vidéo (si celles-ci ne sont pas utilisées d'une quelconque façon à l'écran)
7) La musique utilisée de la vidéo n'est pas enregistrée pour la participation au concours*
8) Il y a violations de la législation russe, particulièrement concernant l'incitation à la haine ethnique

* - Il est possible d'utiliser une autre chanson d'un groupe/chanteur enregistré pour le concours après un commun accord avec l'artiste

Au cas où il y aurait trop de vidéos participants, le vote pourrait être séparée en 2 parties. D'abord, les participants pour le round final serait choisi parmi tous les participants; ensuite, les gagnants seront choisis par les finalistes. Une vidéo gagne si elle obtient la majorité des points lors du vote des juges. Au total, il y aura 5 places rapportant des prix.

Nota Bene:
Les organisateurs se réservent le droit de changer les dates du concours, autant que de changer/ajouter quelques détails sur des circonstances non prévues.

Jury

1)Le jury regroupe les participants au concours (ceux dont la vidéo a été postée) et les invités: de célèbres monteurs vidéos, des commentateurs actifs et dans représentants du l'industrie du showbiz/ de la musique? (Un membre du jury doit avoir un compte sur le site)
2)Au 1er tour de votes, les catégories finales sont choisies. La participation au tour de vote n'est pas obligatoire mais au cas où il y a 2 vidéos avec un même nombre de vote, la priorité est donnée à celui y ayant participé. Les juges du 1er tour doivent avoir regarder TOUTES les vidéos du concours et remplir le formulaire en ligne sur le site. C'est pourquoi, si vous voulez participer au 1er tour de jugement, soyer prêts à téléchargement un gros nombre de données.
3)Les juges du second tour doivent regarder toutes les vidéos finalistes et choisir les meilleures parmi elles via le formulaire en ligne. Les juges de ce tour comprennent les finalistes du concours et les invités. Si un finaliste n'a pas voté dans la catégorie où sa vidéo est nommé, alors le nombre de points obtenus par le finaliste est réduit au maximum de points possible pour la nomination concernée (remarquez que cela fait une différence considérable dans la répartition des places des finalistes)

Les détails sur la procédure de vote et l'inscription des juges vont être annoncés.
